Introducing Buster.

Here is one of the new kids! This is Buster. Something happened to his mom, but we don't know what. He was found wandering in the area of a barn where mom's den was known to be. We thought he was reunited after he was left out Friday night and gone the next morning. But on Sunday he reappeared wandering the woman's yard. And unfortunately 2 other siblings were found dead in the road. He was a little dehydrated and hungry...but none the worse for wear!


Then I got a call today from the woman that found him. They just found 2 more! Buster still has some siblings!

His 2 brothers are not in as good shape as he was. They are very dehydrated and thin, and one of them has puss leaking out of one eye and a swollen front leg. They are in the process of getting rehydrated and the injured little guy will be visiting the vet tomorrow. Poor things...they've been without mom since at least Friday! The 2 new brothers are pretty active and alert considering their condition, and eagerly drinking their fluids, so hopefully they will do well.


Here are a couple other new kids that have come our way. Mary has this cutie pie! How cute!! Momma was evicted from her den...in the garage or shed I think, I can't remember. Mom was seen by some leaving with a trail of babies, but this little girl was found later. Apparently she got separated or fell off mom in the move.

JoAnn has taken on these precious bundles. There are 3 chippies all together. A house was being demolished and the chimney brought down. The workers found these guys under the rubble! Amazing...not a scratch on them. They are in great shape so they were most likely orphaned as the chimney came down, therefore they were not without mom for very long at all! 13 tiny grams!! Wow! Good luck JoAnn.....you didn't want any sleep this week anyway, did ya!? Ha ha.

Happy Birthday Laurie!

Wednesday night me, JoAnn, Lisa and Laurie(and most of the babies we are feeding around the clock!) all went over to Mary's house to celebrate Laurie's birthday. She's 29-again! ha ha

Mary had this adorable cake made with a picture of Laurie and her first gang of raccoons last year...the very same gang we are going to release this week. And it's hard to see in this pic, but look at the cute coonie hanging off the right side of the cake!

We all brought babies that had to be fed so there were squirrels and coonies spread out all over. Not to mention having 2 good Samaritans showing up with new babies to care for. Here a recovering patient checks out one of Laurie's gifts!

Our wildlife ambassador, Tosser.

Our little guy Tosser is doing great! He's up to 184 grams and growing like a weed. He's starting to get a little darker also! He's become a famous boy, with a story in the Saugus town paper and he's been filmed by the Boston Globe for an article. I don't know if his footage will end up in the clip or not, but he's definitely had his 15 minutes of fame.



I cannot think of a cuter ambassador to represent our beloved wildlife, especially the coonies, in a positive light for a change!


We are aiming for a Thursday release for the overwinters. Hopefully the weather will be good for a few days. They are definitely ready to go and I think they will love their freedom! Get ready to say your good byes to Daisy, Buddy, Screech, Whitey, Popeye and Foxy. (sniff, sniff!!) I hate saying goodbye and the fact that I cannot protect them all the time anymore! But I love seeing them enjoy their freedom!

Popeye is back in the big kids pen!

The gang was all worked up about Popeye coming back into the pen, but luckily it didn't last too long. Daisy was down right nasty to him, poor guy! Once they all settled down they pretty much treated him like the kid at the playground no one wants to play with! haha Never fear though, he's already cozied up in the box with the gang again!

Here he is, new nose and all! Finally got that matt taken off and the sutures out and it looks great! Just some crazy pink lines all over it now.

Here he is for the big trip back home! He was very excited...he knew where he was going.

Daisey's less than friendly reception....she was not happy about it at first.

Foxy didn't have much to say one way or the other.

Now it's time to set them free as soon as we get a few good days of weather in a row!
