Happy Thanksgiving!!
Happy Turkey Day to all from me and the fuzzballs!
I can tell you that Willie is thankful that his eye has finally healed enough to open again! It may be too scarred to fully open up again (the tissue around the eye, not the eyeball itself), but it's good enough to see out of and that's the important part! His foot is also healing well. One toe is stuck at a weird angle...kinda like he's giving us the finger with his back foot...but again it doesn't interfere with the function of his foot so he should be good to go by spring!

The little kids.
Cinnamon, Peanut, Phoenix and Raquel are doing great. Still too small to release so they will be staying the winter for sure.....but how can I complain...look how damn cute they are!!

The little kids.
The little kids are enjoying their new digs also. Now in the cage vacated by Razz & Diesel's group they have more climbing room and they are loving it!

Raquel has friends!
Raquel fit right in with Cinnamon, Peanut and Phoenix! It didn't take much more than a brief introduction and they were all fast friends!
The door to Raquel's cage was opened and Phoenix went right in! Raquel had to see who was using her potty!

The littlest raccoons.
The 3 youngest kids are getting some outside time and loving it.....Cinnamon, Peanut and Phoenix are enjoying wrestling in the grass....
....and just climbing all over the place. Although Phoenix (left) is a bit younger than the other 2, she certainly has no problem keeping up with them!
I am really hoping they start to sprout fast! Otherwise it looks like these 3 may be spending the winter this year...they only have until September to get to a release weight of about 10-12lbs and they are definitely not on track for that right now!Tuesday, June 30, 2009
The trio venture "out"
If you can call it that! The 3 babies are the only one's left inside and getting brave! They actually dare to venture away from mom's lap now! LOL Getting curious about exploring their surroundings and playing up a storm with each other.

Bottles & baby raccoons-a demonstration!
Our little boy Peanut here is going to show us how is is possible for such a little creature to use such a big bottle to eat.
As you can see, he's just a little guy.....about 110grams now.....and the nipple is about as big as his muzzle. But looks can be deceiving!!
Because once they open that mouth....it's huge in there! A very big mouth, with a very large flat tongue that curls perfectly around a large nipple with a vacuum seal! And yes....big mouths mean big noise too...he's got a set of lungs on him alright!
Our little boy Razz is over twice the size of Peanut, weighing in at about 230grams now and doing great. He's an eating, pooping machine....and it's normal poops now! One more week and he's out of quarantine.
Turn the light out, I'm tryin' to sleep here lady!!!
Still waiting on the Animal Rescue League to assess Peanut & Cinnamon's mom and her situation. It's not a high priority though, since the rest of the babies are safe with mom.....so it's basically just a waiting game now, but at least I don't have to stress over their safety!
