Caught in the act!

Bella is growing like a weed still. She's up to 140 grams and doing great! Red is going to be heading back out soon too. The swelling is down in her foot and she's using it now. One more check with the vet and then I think she'll be free to go.

When I got the coon cam today to download the pics I couldn't figure out why there was dirt all over the camera and tripod. Someone had to be fiddling with it! I didn't put it on a tree because I knew the coonies would be ALL over it so I use a tripod that I figured would be to difficult to climb. Sure enough I discovered the culprit!! Curiosity finally got the better of someone who found a way to climb the tripod while another looked on in amusement!

It's good to know the tripod and camera can withstand a raccoon climbing all over it! Luckily I had anchored it with big, heavy bricks when I put it out there! Crazy coon! I hope it doesn't become a habit! haha

The new & the old generation.

Baby Bella is growing like a weed. She's up to 117 grams and showing some attitude when she doesn't get as much to eat as she wants! Last night was the first time she made what I call "the question" sound. It's like the sound a guinea pig makes when it talks. The whooo ooo sound that usually means things like "who's there, who are you, what are you doing" type things. When she did it last night, it meant "where did my damn bottle go?" after I took it out of her mouth! haha

When I went down to the feeding station last night I ran into Ringer. I haven't seen her in a while so it was nice to know she was OK. She looks great! Her coat is perfect which makes me wonder if she's gonna be a mom this year. I find the pregnant ones tend to get ratty, scruffy looking coats (like Dandy and Reds) as they prepare to have kits. I could definitely be wrong of course. Time will tell. Ringer is the one that brought her 3 kids out for a visit with Grammy last year when they were old enough.

Belle and kids are tucked away in their den box. Deep in the shadow's beyond this entrance mom is taking care of her new babies as we speak!

There she goes!

And here is Dandy in all her glory as she once again heads out into the wild! I carried her back down to the feeding station she is so comfortable with and she headed out on a path she was obviously comfortable and familiar with. Good luck Dandy!

I'm a grammy again!

No sooner did I write my last entry when I discovered I am in fact a grammy again. I went out back to take care of the overwinters and while I was down there Belle actually poked her head out of the large den box. It was enough to start the kits inside chattering away.
