A long awaited update!

I apologize for the drastic lack of posts! Still working on replacing the laptop....hope to have a stand in soon! In the meantime....while I have a few seconds on another computer.....here's what is happening lately in a nutshell!

One large male raccoon in who is pretty friendly! He's quite healthy and definitely feeling his oats this time of year! I'm guessing he was hand raised by someone and once he became difficult to handle as the hormones kicked in....he was booted out. Going to have to hold on to him and wild him up for a proper release when he's ready! I'm calling him Wilbur. Due to his amorous mood, as soon as he sees me he comes over and begins grunting like a little piglet. (I have video of that too, that I will eventually be able to post). Flattering as it may be that he obviously "likes" me so much, it makes it quite difficult to deal with him, as it is not safe to go near him and I can not easily sneak into the cage to clean up etc.! Let the games begin!!

This young rat was left at the MSPCA. Once it is determined whether it is wild or domestic, it will either be released in the spring or get a new home! My money is on domestic....although it is a little skittish, it certainly is not as skittish as a wild one would be. It's a little more like an un-socialized domestic juvenile.

And finally.....you can raise them and release them, but every now and then there is one freeloader who keeps coming back for the free room and board! Found this guy squatting in my garage! After a tasty  snack of mice, I gently escorted him out......

On another note...I'm thinking of changing up the appearance of the blog a little.  Nothing major.....just a different color scheme or background....what do you think? Any opinions??
