River.... again.

Upon hearing a ruckus outside, I went into the woods looking for the trouble maker. I'll give you 3 guesses who it was.....but you'll only need one!
A pleasant surprise.....I ran into Button while investigating! She definitely remembered me....almost walked right up to me to say Hi....but her companion was a little spooked and I think the swishing noise my coat made spooked her a little too. Vin had probably already done his share of aggravating them as well, possibly the reason for the ruckus we heard! Either way, it was good to see her looking just cute as ever!!! Vin just ended up back at the big pen harassing the girls again.
And.......
OMG, OMG, OMG...I am soooo not ready....but they are so damn cute I just want to cuddle them to death! I alluded to the mom with babies during Vin's escape, and I'm sure you've all been waiting ever so patiently for the scoop.
Well here they are in all their ABSOLUTE CUTENESS!!!
We have another River with us.....couldn't be helped...she came from a home next to a river! The usual story....mom gets trapped and "Oh my God....there are babies in there too!" These guys are about 1 day old(when I took these Saturday), bless their little hearts!
Luckily they come with their mom.....so other than the pain in the butt of shuffling everyone around, my work is easy....just watch and enjoy! I managed to give them a quick once over before settling them in with mom....3 girls and a boy...and very healthy! So in keeping with the river theme, and in appreciation of a wonderful supporter.....welcome Tigris, Amazon, Nile and Howell!
I have not seen them since settling them in....mom is a FIERCE protector. She's in the indoor section so she's less stressed by activity going on around, but it doesn't matter. She hears movement anywhere near the door and she's there like lightning, snarling and trying to get at me through it! I have to check on them by sneaking out there and waiting quietly for her to shift enough to make the babies squawk a little!
Vin hanging around is not helping matters either. I'm sure getting the girls worked up is not relaxing the new mom all that much! I don't want her getting too stressed and hurting the babies.
It's pretty obvious by now Vin is here to torment me! LOL

The new kid & the bunnies gone wild!

There is a new addition here. This little boy was found on a busy sidewalk in Arlington so the Animal Control Officer scooped him up and the rest is history. He is very sweet and very wiggly right now! No name yet....but it will come to me! He took to the bottle on the first try....what a good boy!

And our 7 little bunnies that JoAnne was caring for?? They all did great and were released the other day in the woods at my house. Look how big they got! Still can't believe they are the same little bunnies!

Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy to cute!!!! Good luck little guys!

3 More!

Add 3 more boys to the mix! This little guy came in last night. Very skinny and dehydrated but what a set of lungs on him! He's had some goopy eyes so I'm keeping a close eye on that. He's very sweet and taking his bottle like a good boy!

I just got 2 more boys this evening. They are in great shape and I think they were the result of a kidnapping...someone thought they would make cute little pets when they found them last Thursday and kept them until animal control got wind of it and brought them to me today. Right now they are getting warm and settled and I'll give them a better exam soon.

The little boy Laurie gave me is doing great. What a sweetheart! I'm calling him Clover now. Laurie has a group of girls named after spices and he was originally going to join that theme, but being a boy she called him Clovis. I didn't have the heart to do that to him! HA Ha! I figure Clover is neutral enough and that way none of the other kids will make fun of him!

Introducing Mohican, Tugger and Growler.

First a little look at how much Tosser is growing! He's doing great and getting bigger every day!

Here is Mohican. A little boy found wandering on the ground a few days after mom was found hit in the road. He has a perfect mohawk up his back, the fur facing the opposite way like a Rhodesian ridge back, so Mohican seemed appropriate! He's doing great, just a little scrape on his nose.

Here we have the girls Tugger and Growler. Two sisters found wandering the streets after repeated attempts to find mom it became apparent she was not around and they were rescued. Growler gets mad when she gets put back into her cage while her sister eats and gives little growl of disapproval. She is the larger, darker girl.

And last but not least....Tugger, a very sweet playful little girl!

She was determined to drag my camera into her cage to keep for herself. We ended up in a game of tug of war in my attempts to reclaim the camera strap. It was so funny....she was grabbing it and yanking on it growling and shaking her head like a dog with a tug toy does! The name Tugger was a given after that! A lot of spunk in a tiny little package, that one is!

The girls are doing great and even starting to eat soaked chow left in their cage. Buster and Seeker are doing great as well, a little older than the girls and also eating soaked chow left in their cage. In 2 weeks time the girls will get to meet the older boys and all go together and Tosser and Mohican will each finally have a companion when they are put together.
